Tofts takes first Porsche Carrera Cup GB class win of the season for Duckhams Yuasa Racing
Jacob Tofts went up a gear in his challenge for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro-Am title at Brands Hatch last weekend, claiming his first class victory of the season alongside a third-place overall in race two.
Following a podium finish during the opening weekend at Donington Park last month, Tofts picked up where he left off as the championship resumed at the famous Kent circuit. Faced with two qualifying sessions on Saturday, the Duckhams Yuasa Racing driver was held up during the opening session at the peak of tyre performance. Qualifying two proved a much tidier affair, with Tofts duly securing Pro-Am pole position and third place overall for the second race.
Showing strong pace in race one, the yellow-and-blue Duckhams-backed car made good progress through the field despite an early Safety Car period caused by a car stranded in the gravel. Crossing the line third in class ensured a second podium finish in as many races for the Hertfordshire-based driver.
He made a strong start to race two to take second place going up the inside of Will Jenkins at Paddock Hill Bend. Jenkins piled on the pressure in an attempt to reclaim the position, but Tofts had an answer and maintained second place until a charging Sid Smith closed in. Mindful of keeping things clean after receiving a track limits warning, Tofts chose not to defend too aggressively when Smith moved through, knowing he still led the Pro-Am class. With a comfortable gap back to his nearest Pro-Am rival in sixth place, he maintained his focus to secure his first victory of the season and a valuable championship points haul.
Jacob Tofts now sits third in the Pro-Am standings, just five points off the championship lead, as the series heads to Snetterton Circuit in two weeks’ time.

It was a really good weekend. The new qualifying format made it more interesting. Unfortunately, we were blocked in the first session at the peak of our tyre. So, we missed the performance window, which put us on the back foot for a race one, but we were able to come back in second qualifying and put it third overall on the grid. So, I was really happy with that.
Race one was a good race. We had an okay start, but then the safety car bunched us up again. We drove through, made a few good moves to get into third and finish there. The pace was very good and showed what we could do. Just maybe a bit of what could have been if our qualifying had been better.
We had a very good start to race two and got up to second. Then it was just about managing our race and finishing third. I’m very happy with the team and how we've been this weekend. The car's been on rails and the improvement that we're seeing at the moment is very good. To be honest, I didn't expect to be performing at this level so soon. I can't thank the team enough for their hard work.
