Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Redline aiming to continue front-running Carrera Cup pace
Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Redline heads to Snetterton this weekend as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB begins the second half of the 2022 season, with the team aiming to continue its front-running pace as it hunts for the championship title.
Leading the charge is Porsche GB Junior Driver Adam Smalley who sits third in the standings, just seven points away from the leader, with 104 points still to play for this season. Frustratingly, the Lancastrian crossed the line first in the second contest last time out but was classified second when he was adjudged to have exceeded track limits.
In the sister car, Oliver White comes off his best performance of the season at Knockhill, with two top-eight finishes and is aiming to carry that form into the Norfolk venue as he continues to improve behind the wheel of the tricky to master 992-style Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car.
There will also be a change in format at the event, for the first time since 2017, as drivers will face a 40-minute contest early on Sunday morning, with a shorter 20-minute sprint in the afternoon.
Adam and Oliver will head out on track on Friday, August 12th, for two 40-minute practice sessions, before a single qualifying session at 14:40 on Saturday. The longer race takes place at 09:10 on Sunday, August 14th, with the shorter contest broadcast live on ITV1 at 12:52.
Adam Smalley, #21
Snetterton is my favourite circuit and last year we put it on pole in Ginettas. We won two of the three races, including in the reverse grid where I started sixth and got to the lead. We went well there in preseason testing too, so it should be a strong one for us.
The championship battle remains really close between Kiern Jewiss, Will Martin, and me, so we will continue to work at finishing in or around the podium positions and hopefully, by the end of the season, we’ll be in a position to finish on top.
Oliver White, #2
I did preseason testing at Snetterton, though it didn't go very well, to be honest, however, it was only my second day in the car. With the help of the team and plenty more miles under my belt I have improved lots since then. It's a track I've always enjoyed driving, as there's plenty of high-speed sections, so I'm looking forward to going back there.
There are longer straights than Knockhill, the corners are more open, and it's fairly smooth as well. That means it should suit the GT3 Cup car and hopefully there'll be more overtaking, given the long straights. The plan is to get me inside the top six, so that's what I'm aiming for.
