Duckhams Yuasa Racing ready to resume title fight at Donington Park

The Duckhams Yuasa Racing team and driver Jacob Tofts will resume their Carwow Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign this weekend as the second half of the season gets underway at Donington Park.

The Leicestershire venue hosted the opening two races of the campaign, but this time the championship will tackle the full Grand Prix configuration, incorporating the Melbourne Loop to provide a fresh challenge for the field. It's a circuit where Tofts has consistently shown impressive pace, even if the results have not always reflected his speed.

After a strong run of form in recent rounds, the 20-year-old heads to the 2.498-mile, 12-turn circuit aiming to extend his podium streak and strengthen his challenge for the Pro-Am title. Following a productive outing at Thruxton last month, where he secured class pole position and two further podium finishes, Tofts arrives in confident mood after a successful post-event test at Donington.

With four race weekends remaining, every point will prove crucial in the battle for championship honours, and the Duckhams Yuasa Racing driver will be looking to convert his pace into another strong points haul.

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB field will be on track on Thursday for two 45-minute free practice sessions at 09:55 and 14:25. With Porsche Sprint Challenge Great Britain not on the timetable, Carrera Cup GB will once again use a split qualifying format, with two sessions taking place on Saturday at 11:55 and 17:20, before races nine and ten of the season get underway on Sunday at 09:40 and 13:50.

I'm really looking forward to Donington Park. I think it's one of my strongest circuits in terms of pace, but for whatever reason I've never really had the results there over the last three or four years. Hopefully we can finally get that monkey off our backs this weekend and come away with the results that our pace deserves. We had a good test there after the last round, so it was a great opportunity to get some more mileage in the car and continue improving.

I'm definitely feeling confident heading into the weekend. Our pace has been really strong all season. We were a little unlucky with a small issue in qualifying at the opening round and then race one didn't go our way. But in race two we came from last to finish second in class, so to produce that kind of performance after such a difficult start to the weekend was really encouraging. Hopefully we can build on that this time around.

I really enjoy the Grand Prix layout. The chicane changes the character of the circuit compared to the National layout, which makes it a different challenge. I also like the two hairpins because they're genuine overtaking opportunities, but they're not easy corners to master. They're quite deceptive and there's more than one way to approach them, so it's one of those circuits where you can really make a difference through your driving and find lap time in places that other people don't.
