Duckhams Yuasa Racing ready for high-speed Porsche Carrera Cup GB visit to Thruxton

Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Team Parker is set to resume action in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend (June 2-4) as the series heads to the high-speed Thruxton for rounds five and six of the season.

After the first two meetings of the 2023 season, Porsche GB Junior Driver and programme returnee Adam Smalley leads the championship standings, having scored a win at Donington Park and adding two further podiums to open his campaign.

On the other side of the awning, youngster Harry Foster continues to learn and develop behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, finishing all four races in the top ten of the Pro class, focusing his attentions on qualifying performance which should boost his race prospects.

Thruxton, which has changed little since the late 1960s, remains the UK’s fastest motor racing circuit, where the quickest lap times in testing were an average of over 117 mph around the 2.356-mile circuit.

Both Harry and Adam will tackle a pair of free practice sessions on Friday, June 2nd, at 11:00 and 15:00, before they head out for qualifying on Saturday, June 3rd, at 14:10. The two 22-lap races are set to take place on Sunday, June 4th, at 10:50 and 15:15, with the latter shown live on ITV4 and ITVX.

Adam Smalley

“Thruxton is the quickest circuit in the UK and one I absolutely love. It's an amazing track to drive and was a strong one for us last year – probably one of our strongest weekends of the season, so we're heading into this one hoping to stay on top in the championship. It is a circuit like no other as each time you turn up it feels quick. Friday is always a bit of a learning curve for everyone, but the weather's is looking good at the moment, so fingers crossed, it stays that way. We've had strong results there in the past and I'm looking to replicate that this year.

“The competition is coming from all angles this year, but I'll keep taking it round by round, focus on myself, maximise my own performance in the championship, and what will be will be. We've had a strong start to the year with three podiums out of four, so I just need to keep doing what I'm doing.”

Harry Foster

“I think Thruxton will play pretty much the same as Brands Hatch, so it will be important to get some good qualifying laps in, as the reason Brands didn't go well was due to not optimising that session.

“Thruxton is similar with not many opportunities for overtaking, so if I can get that right it'll set me up nicely for the rest of the weekend. Testing in April went quite well, though we had mixed conditions, so it was a bit weird, but I know where I need to find the time. Last year was really successful at the circuit for me, scoring my first pole and victory – I actually won two races – in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB, so it has some happy memories for me.”
