Duckhams Yuasa Racing looking forward to second half of Carrera Cup campaign

Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Team Parker is set to return to Porsche Carrera Cup GB action this weekend (August 12/13) as the series begins the second half of its 16-race season at Knockhill.
 
In a strong and positive year so far, the team sits second in the Entrant Championship, just 12 points off the top spot, Porsche GB Junior Driver Adam Smalley heads the drivers’ rankings with a commanding 32-point lead, and Rookie Harry Foster continues to improve his knowledge and experience each time he is on track.
 
Adam, who is also a Member of the BRDC SuperStars programme, has taken two wins and scored five further podiums in the eight races so far in 2023, while Harry, who is the reigning Porsche Sprint Challenge GB champion, has taken point scoring finishes in five races to date.
 
Both drivers went well in official testing at Donington Park recently, ending the day first and fifth quickest, and they will be aiming to continue that form at another official test day at Knockhill this coming Wednesday, August 9th.
 
There will be two further practice sessions on Friday 11th, at 10:50 and 15:15, before qualifying the following afternoon at 14:35. There are two 32 lap contests scheduled for Sunday, August 12th, at 09:40 and 13:45, with the latter also broadcast live on ITV4. Fans visiting the circuit will also be able to meet both drivers at the Duckhams stand on Saturday, with times to be confirmed.

“Knockhill is a roller coaster of a circuit and probably one of every drivers' favourite places to visit. It's an incredible place to go as it is fast and flowing, but also very technical. It's one of the shortest circuits we go to as well, so that closes all the margins and makes the likes of qualifying critical. A short track with lots of cars means traffic, especially in qualifying, but sometimes that can be out of your control, so you do need a little bit of luck on your side.
 
“We had a good time last year, winning on the road, so hopefully, we can repeat that, and I'll be giving it my best shot. I've got a fantastic team around me and I'm still taking it race by race. Finishing as high as possible is the aim and despite leading the championship, my approach won’t be changing at all.”

“I'm looking forward to Knockhill. It's a new track for me, but some of the tracks that I haven't raced on before have tended to be my strongest. I don't feel like I'll be on the back foot massively because I've put in plenty of sim time to learn the track and there’s testing on the Wednesday, so there'll be time to get up to speed.
 
“Sometimes it's good to have a long break and refresh, and it paid off in testing recently as I felt happy in the car immediately. I was putting in some good laps, everything was going quite nicely, and we managed to finish P4 in the final session which is when people were doing their new tyre runs, so the potential is there.
 
“I'm hoping to get a few more points as I've had a couple of unlucky weekends at Thruxton and Oulton Park, which cost me. I just need to be a little bit more consistent, especially in qualifying, bring home some points, and hopefully we can get Duckhams Yuasa Racing on top of the team's championship.”
