Duckhams Yuasa Racing joins powerhouse Porsche outfit for 2023 title push

Duckhams Yuasa Racing is delighted to announce it is linking up with leading Porsche outfit Team Parker Racing for the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign, with Adam Smalley being joined by Harry Foster behind the wheel.

Current Porsche GB Junior Driver and Carrera Cup GB runner-up Adam returns for a second season, after scoring one victory and nine further podiums last time out. In the battle for the title to the very end of the year, he will have his eyes firmly set on clinching the crown.

Harry was impressive in the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB with Team Parker Racing in 2022. Despite being his first full season in the series he scored six wins in the final seven races, including scooping up bonus points for pole positions and fastest laps, ending the year with more victories than the rest of the grid combined and the championship title in hand.

Team Parker Racing, meanwhile, has won 30 separate Porsche championship titles in 25 years of operation, including the inaugural Porsche Carrera Cup GB honours with Barry Horne who now manages its programme in the series.

Leading the partnership for 2023 remains Duckhams, which supplies a range of Engine Oils, Advanced Lubricants and Fuel Additives, having fuelled engines since 1899, and Yuasa batteries which are manufactured by GS Yuasa, the world’s leading manufacturer of lead acid and lithium-ion batteries for all vehicle and industrial applications.

Also returning are MOOG Parts, providing quality steering and suspension parts with almost 100 years of history, and Jurid, which offers brake parts from passenger vehicles and light trucks all the way to commercial and fleet machines.

Joining the team for the new season is Purflux, which provides high-quality filtration media and drives innovation, including Chevron pleating and compact, lightweight filters using fewer metallic parts.

Adam Smalley

“I had a great season and finishing vice-champion in my first year was more than I could have asked for as I think I scored the second most podiums out of anyone. Moving forward with Team Parker Racing gives me a great opportunity to do some more racing, so I'm really looking forward to the new challenges ahead.

“Changing teams means it's going to be very different with lots of new people around me, but as we’re currently competing in the Porsche Sprint Challenge Southern Europe, I get to understand how the team works, they get to understand how I work, so it's probably the best programme to go and challenge for a title in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this season.

“It's going to be strange as Redline Racing has done a fantastic job, and I can't fault anyone there and we've been rivals all year, but I'm confident we can do a good job. Kiern [Jewiss] had a great year and was untouchable in those last two rounds, so I'm looking forward to working with those guys and seeing what I can improve on. The only goal is the title. It's not going to be easy, so I'll be doing everything I can, putting in all the hard work and effort to make that dream become a reality.”

Harry Foster

“I was really hoping I'd be able to do the Carrera Cup this season and progress to the next level. When I heard the news from Stuart Parker I was over the moon as he told me on my 21st birthday, which started the day off nicely! I'm hugely grateful to Stuart and Chris Hodgen for putting it all together and Duckhams Yuasa Racing for giving me the opportunity.

“To be up there, to be quick, and to see myself progress throughout 2022 was good. A lot of it was just down to Team Parker Racing enabling me to develop as a driver and my pace got better and better compared to everyone else as a result. I did a test in the Carrera Cup car at Silverstone in November, and it was lovely to drive, so I'm quite excited for next year. The goal will be to try and win the Rookie Championship in 2023.

“Team Parker Racing is the best team to run with. They were brilliant last year so I wouldn't want to be with anyone else. It's a very professional and friendly environment and they know how to put a car together and win championships if you look at their history, so I couldn't be with anyone better, and I am proud to be representing Duckhams and Yuasa at the same time.”

Chris Hodgen, Managing Director Absolute Agency

“I am really pleased that both Duckhams and GS Yuasa are staying on board for a third season with this project as having continuity is very important, especially for Adam Smalley as he pushes for the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship this season. “It's also exciting to welcome global automotive filtration specialist Purflux Filters to the team for the 2023 season, joining a strong list of automotive focused partners including Jurid and MOOG Parts in Duckhams Yuasa Racing.
“I cannot be happier with our driver pairing for this season. It is brilliant to have Adam back for a title challenge and I am excited to see what current Porsche Sprint Challenge GB champion Harry Foster can do after his performances last year. Hopefully, by the end of the season Adam will be in the fight for the main championship and Harry can push for the Rookie title.”
