Duckhams Yuasa Racing eyeing further podium visits as Carrera Cup heads to Cheshire

Duckhams Yuasa Racing with Team Parker heads to Cheshire this weekend (June 16-18) aiming to keep its podium run going, as the Porsche Carrera Cup GB prepares for rounds seven and eight of the season.

Last time out at Thruxton, Porsche GB Junior Driver Adam Smalley added his fourth and fifth podiums of the season which mean he continues to lead the overall championship standings. He comes into this meeting off the back of his debut in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland, as he broadens his knowledge base in the 911 GT3 Cup car.

Meanwhile, Porsche Sprint Challenge GB champion and series rookie Harry Foster enjoyed his best qualifying session to date, finishing fourth fastest, before damage then contact from another car hampered his race results.

This weekend, Oulton Park will provide a stern test for both drivers and the team, as the circuit has a tricky mix of fast, undulating sections, with two heavy braking zones thrown in, which will make qualifying as important as ever.

Both drivers will have two 45-minute free practice sessions on Friday, June 16th, before qualifying and the opening 21-lap race the following day, at 11:50 and 16:40, respectively. The second contest, over a shorter 20 minutes, will take place on Sunday, June 18th, at 13:30, with live coverage on the main ITV1 channel this weekend.

Adam Smalley, #21

“Oulton Park is a special track for us. It is the most local circuit for me and it's the home race for most of our sponsors, so it's going to be a very special weekend having so much support. We come in leading the championship, so the goal is to maintain that lead. Last year we had a good run, with a second and third, and to drive around there is mega, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what we can do.

“Coming off the back of racing at Hockenheim, which was an unlucky weekend, I want to put that right and use the experience and knowledge that I've gained into practice. So far, this year has been great, we've had a good streak of podiums with five in the first six races, so we’ll be trying to keep it up.”

Harry Foster, #16

“It seems to be a common theme this season, but I think Oulton is going to be a tough track to overtake on, so qualifying is going to be important. At Thruxton we definitely found a lot of pace, especially in quali, compared to the opening two meetings. We will aim to carry that forward, keep that momentum going, and then try and have some good results. It's not a track I have driven on in the cup car, so I'll only have two practice sessions. It'll be a little bit difficult, but I'm sure we'll get used to it.”
