Duckhams Yuasa Racing continues push for double Porsche title success

Duckhams Yuasa Racing heads to Donington Park this weekend (August 26/27), looking to extend its lead in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Drivers’ standings, as well as move into the top spot of Entrants’ Championship.

After two visits to the podium by Porsche GB Junior Driver Adam Smalley at Knockhill last time out, he enjoys a whopping 34-point lead in the Pro Drivers’ standings, with just six races left to run. Meanwhile, thanks to a good run of form by Harry Foster, the team is just 11 points back in those rankings.

The circuit has been a happy hunting ground for both drivers, as Harry scored two pole positions and won all three races on the road en route to the Porsche Sprint Challenge GB title there last season. Adam, meanwhile, took his maiden Carrera Cup victory at the track last year, as well as winning the opening race of this season.

This time out the Porsche Carrera Cup GB will race on the full Donington Park Grand Prix circuit for the first time, adding two big overtaking opportunities for the grid, providing a real contrast to the tight and twisty confines of Knockhill.

The team will head out for two practice sessions on Thursday, August 24th, before qualifying on Saturday at 14:25. There are two 19 lap races scheduled to take place on Sunday, 27th, at 09:40 and 13:50 – the latter of which will be broadcast live on ITV4.

Adam Smalley

“I am really looking forward to racing on the GP layout for the first time in the Carrera Cup. It will be a learning curve for everyone, so that should throw some excitement into the mix. Donington is a circuit I love, and I think most drivers do, because it is fast and flowing. It's where I took my first Porsche Carrera Cup GB victory on my debut and I won there this year as well, so it's got a special place in my heart. We've got good momentum at the moment and I'm looking forward to carrying that on.

“The grid is tougher than ever this year. There's competition everywhere you look and it's such fine margins so the level of intensity this year is very, very high. Where I am, with Team Parker Racing, means I'm very happy. I've got good a connection and relationship with the team, so I'm taking it race by race, working on what we need to behind the scenes and hopefully having the results on track.”

 Harry Foster

“We had a good result at Donington earlier in the season on the National layout, with a seventh and fifth, after coming from quite a way back. The pace was really good, I didn't qualify too badly, so hopefully I can carry the momentum from some good results at Knockhill into the weekend.

“The official Porsche test on the GP circuit went well, but you can't ever be sure where you are in testing. I felt good in the car and was quite quick, so I'm looking forward to it. I had a very good weekend there in the Sprint Challenge and I should have won all three races. but I did get a double pole and won twice. I really enjoy the first section with Redgate and the Craner Curves and it's a good track for overtaking.”
