Duckhams Yuasa Racing aiming to continue winning ways in Carrera Cup

After clinching a race win, podium, and pole position at the opening rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB, Duckhams Yuasa Racing is aiming to continue its 2023 success at Brands Hatch in Kent, this weekend (May 5-7).
 
Current Porsche GB Junior Driver Adam Smalley leads the overall standings, having secured his maiden series pole and following up with the win and second place at Donington Park, while teammate Harry Foster similarly sits atop the Rookie championship after his debut races in the series.
 
Joining forces with Team Parker Racing this season, the opening two contests went almost as well as the team could have hoped and sets the scene for what everyone is hoping will be a successful campaign for the rest of the season.
 
Both drivers will be on track on Friday, May 5th, for two practice sessions, before 30 minutes of qualifying the following afternoon, at 14:40. There are two 34 lap races scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 7th, at 12:30 and 16:20, with live coverage of both on ITV4 and ITVX.

Adam Smalley, #21

Pro Championship: 1 (23 points)

“Brands Indy is a circuit that everyone loves but is also very challenging. There are only a few corners, but it also means the margins are so tight. We had a great first round of the championship, taking my maiden pole position in qualifying, P2 in race one, and a win in race two was a solid start to the championship and we are starting as we mean to go on.
 
“It's quite a technical track, so you're looking for hundredths of a second rather than tenths like usual. It is going to be a very tight weekend; we had a great round there last year and I missed out on pole by something like two hundreds in qualifying and in the races we were strong in the rain. It should be an exciting weekend and I'm looking forward to challenging at the front of the field.
 
“Brands is a circuit like no other because it is so small. This year, with 25 cars on the grid, there's not that much space for everyone, so in qualifying, to be able to get a gap to do a lap is going to be a challenge in itself.”

“We have undertaken quite a lot of testing at Brands Hatch, so I have quite a clear idea of what needs to be done. Donington was quite a successful weekend especially in the races, so I have quite a bit of confidence coming into the weekend, but I think it will mostly be down to qualifying. It's going to be so close as there's not many corners to find time at, so anything you do in qualifying is going to make quite a big difference for the whole weekend.
 
“With the first meeting under my belt, I think I could possibly show a bit more aggression at the start and I really need to hook up qualifying a bit more because I started a bit down the order at Donington. That will be a big deal at Brands Indy where there aren’t as many overtaking opportunities.”
