Croft homecoming for Coates as Duckhams Yuasa Racing returns to Porsche action

Duckhams Yuasa Racing makes its return to the Porsche Carrera Cup GB this weekend (1–3 August), heading to Croft in Yorkshire – the home circuit of driver Max Coates.

The series has been on a two-month mid-season break, during which Max has maintained his lead in the Pro-Am standings, thanks to a brace of podium finishes at Thruxton, which followed a stunning overall victory at Snetterton.

On the previous event, Duckhams Yuasa Racing launched the third season of The Race to Save Lives. In the UK, over 6,000 people take their own lives each year – approximately one every 120 minutes – and three-quarters are men. Founder Ian Gough has teamed up with The David Riddell Memorial, a charity dedicated to reducing the stigma surrounding suicide and improving prevention.

At Croft, the campaign’s pop-up barbers will be on site, offering free haircuts to anyone who wishes to take a seat. The Lions Barber Collective equips hair professionals with the skills and confidence to open up conversations about mental health, helping to raise awareness, break down stigma, and provide vital support.

Max and Duckhams Yuasa Racing by Graves Motorsport will head out on track on Friday for two 45-minute practice sessions, with qualifying at 13:35 on Saturday. Sunday’s two 17-lap races are set for 13:35 and 16:15, both broadcast live on ITV4 in the UK and streamed worldwide on YouTube.

Race week at Croft means more to me than anywhere else. It’s my local track, the weekend is always electric, and this year I’m expecting 175 guests, so the atmosphere will be incredible. I’m also proud that we continue to champion The Race to Save Lives, alongside The David Riddell Memorial.

“It’s been a long eight weeks since I last raced, so I can’t wait to be back in the car on Friday. We had a test earlier this year, and the 992-spec Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is phenomenal. I’ve had plenty of laps around Croft and enjoyed success there, but nothing compares to the speed of this machine – the Jim Clark Esses are something else. Bring it on!
